The SPS Secretary recommendation determines the basic task flow within SSD processing, as indicated by the flow chart below:

SSD Process Map

The SPS Secretary will select a task from the My Tasks table to enter the task form and conduct the SPS recommendation. As indicated by the four numbers in the above SSD processing task flow chart, and highlighted in the image below, the SPS Secretary has four options:

SPS Recommendation Completion Options

1. Approve with Agency changes

If the SPS Secretary recommends approval with agency changes, a task assignment method must be selected by using the radio buttons:

Assign Task Contact Options

If “Submitter in workflow” is selected, a submitter selection drop-down menu appears as well as a “Respond by Date” bar. A submitter must be selected using the drop-down menu. The respond by date is configured to be 3 business day away from the date that of recommendation, but can be changed as needed.

2. Approve and send to SRB Chief

If the SPS Secretary selects to approve and send to the SRB Chief, the SPS Secretary must post a comment into the Internal Discussion section in order to complete the activity.

3. Approve and send to WG 7 Chair

If the SPS Secretary selects to approve and send to the Working Group 7 Chair, the SPS Secretary must post a comment into the Internal Discussion section in order to complete the activity.

4. Approve and send to WG 8 Chair

If the SPS Secretary selects to approve and send to the Working Group 8 Chair, the SPS Secretary must post a comment into the Internal Discussion section in order to complete the activity.

Regardless of which action is selected, the SPS Secretary will always be required to add a comment to the Internal Discussion section. The purpose of this requirement is to leave instructions for the recipient.
